History
Gray-Hodges was founded in 1949 in Tennessee, by Phillip Gray and Arthur Hodges, as a wholesale supplier of plumbing and kitchen equipment. In those days, there were no fiberglass tubs, no plastic pipes and no decorative faucets. The company began with only 1 location in Knoxville, TN which had a 7,000 sq. ft. warehouse and the company started with only 8 employees. In the 1960’s things began to change. Gray-Hodges ordered the very first trailer load of fiberglass tubs offered on the market. In 1984, the founders left the company and the ESOP (Employee owned company) was formed.
From that moment forward, Gray-Hodges became East Tennessee’s trusted source for cabinets, appliances and bathroom fixtures. As the distributor of kitchen cabinets, sinks and accessories, counter tops, appliances, water heaters, bathroom fixtures and accessories and plumbing products which includes brands such as Moen, Delta, KraftMaid, Timberlake, Mansfield, Jacuzzi and Aquaglass, the four Gray-Hodges locations serve contractors, plumbers, mechanical contractors and the general public throughout Knoxville, Sevierville and Blount County.
Gray-Hodges currently has 38 employees/owners and has 4 locations; all locations have warehouses to better serve their customers. These four branches are located in Knoxville (2), Sevierville and Alcoa being their newest location.
